Written, directed, produced and in this case filmed by me (which I would not recommend), this short film was made in just 16 days as a submission for the TikTok X Cannes film competition.
We ended up making a film called 'Bystander' that is easily my most challenging experience from both a creative and emotional perspective. It's never easy making a film about real issues and there's not an issue more tragically ongoing than police brutality towards targeted groups in this country due to racial profiling.
In the wake of so many of these incidents it constantly fascinated me how video, often shared on social media can be the catalyst for wether action is or isn't taken in reprimanding the officers responsible. It's easy to feel powerless, but I really hope this film does capture the importance of not being a bystander and a reminder that you do have a tool for social change that can hold those in power accountable - and you're using it right now to read this.
This film was an absolute pleasure thanks to our amazing cast and crew.
